Continued from SF Day 1 Part 1.
Touristy area calls for touristy restaurant.
View from our table of a very foggy Alcatraz. My in laws are very fascinated by Alcatraz.
Everybody gets to snack, even the baby.
It’s pouring harder than ever out there.
This would be the continuing theme for the rest of our time here in SF, lots of heavy rain.
Yes, I’ll have your biggest and cheapest beer on tap. Bubba Gump really want to sell you their souvenir glasses as an up charge with your beer, no thanks.
Look, the fog and rain is starting to clear up.
Her new favorite toy, a waterproof “book” that she slobbers all over. Talking about the baby, not my mother in law. My mother in law’s favorite toy is the Baby Einstein music and light show toy, no joke.
Peel and eat shrimp. I learned that my in laws have not had to peel their own shrimp much, if at all before. RL and I had to teach them how to peel shrimps. This was a pretty awesome snack, hit the spot.
With the rain slowing down, it’s time to hit the road again.
And now without the people in front of the crab.
Reminds me of Gateway of India, but inferior to it in every way.
Boudin and their fancy looking sourdough bread.
So devoid of people due to the rain.
Yum, lobster rolls and shrimp.
Cable car turnaround. We’ll be taking this back to our hotel.
She’s a good travel baby, happy just being in her carrier.
Ghirardelli Square, obviously.
We took a quick peek and left. Did not buy any chocolates. Tired and tired of being wet.
Relatively short line at the Cable Car turnaround. Benefits of it being wet.
Another benefit is that we got some nice seats in the front of the car facing out. $7 a person to ride the cable car, not cheap, but at least it drops us off right by our hotel. First time for my in laws on the cable cars, I think they really enjoyed the experience.
Just here a couple of days ago, the start of the Lombard St curvy section.
Gotta visit the Cable Car Museum later on this trip.
Oh no! RL had put her wet umbrella towards my lap, and had soaked my pants before I realized.
Always remember seeing this house.
Everybody’s tired. Almost back to our hotel, it’s been a long day already. It’s 5pm and we’ve been up and about since early early morning.
Back at our hotel. DH wanted to make it back in time to our hotel for the complimentary glass of wine. Nice way to relax after such a long day.
Midway through enjoying our wine, we hear the piercing fire alarm go off. Ugh, the baby is asleep and she’s going to wake up(actually, the baby kept on sleeping!). The hotel personnel were able to turn the alarm off. We weren’t actually worried about an actual fire, but just the alarm waking up the baby, apparently we had our priorities straight…
Minutes later, the fire department still showed up. Don’t think there was a fire though, but good photo opportunity.
No time to waste, shortly after our free wine, it’s time for dinner. PL goes to sleep early, must eat early before she starts to lose it completely.
Saw this super cramped parking lot on the walk to dinner. I’d hate to own a car in this city, probably always paying up the ass for parking and or circling around nonstop to find parking.
Dinner will be at an Italian place a few blocks away.
Gotta have my Italian beer with my Italian food.
True to their reviews, everything was delicious. Food in the Bay Area is expensive, probably 50% more than comparable in Austin, but I will say most of the food we’ve had were very good.
Always amazed at how such a small kitchen can turn out so much food for so many diners.
Saw this upon leaving dinner. Again, I’d hate to have a car in this city.
To be continued at SF Day 2.
