Continued from Chicago Day 2 Part 2.

Maybe it was the alcohol, maybe it was the fact that I slept soooo much the past two days, but did not sleep as well last night. RL’s sinus infection has gotten worse, good thing we’ll be heading home tomorrow so she can see a doctor back in Austin. Missing the kids today as well.

Woke up this morning to some rain. The weather finally caught up with us, sort of. Checked the doppler and it seems like the storm will pass us by the time we finish with our morning coffee. Perfect timing.

Back at the Goddess across the street again.

Rainbow cake for breakfast. Why not? I did wish all the colors were different flavors though. They were all just “cake” flavored with different colors. Still good though.

AB and LL met us here, and called for a Lyft to take us to the aquarium.

Car’s here, let’s go. Rain, as predicted, has stopped.

Reached the aquarium, and there are tons of kids here.

Literally school bus loads of kids. Uh oh, it’ll probably be crowded inside.

No line forming outside yet.

Those are fancy doors. So fancy in fact, they won’t even let us walk through them.

Just a bit of a line inside. It’s a little after 10am.

Even the ceiling has marine theme going.

You know what they say about birds with giant feet…

I’ve visited so many aquariums, and I’ve taken so many photos of the same marine creatures, the photos are starting to get redundant. I wonder if at some point I’ll stop taking so many photos in aquariums…But it’s so hard not to take photos of them. It’s like eating a really good meal, enjoyable every time!

Ewwww, super creepy. A tarantula inside its own web nest thingy. This is what nightmares are made of.

Look at the size of the blowfish!

Seriously, look at the size of that blowfish! Probably the biggest one I’ve ever seen.

Crocodile fish.

Some sort of rock like fish.

Of course, the upside down jellies.

Bamboo shark egg pouches. You can see the little embryos wiggling around in there.

Eel.

Blue lobster is, blue. He looked so sad in there just staring at the wall.

Reminds me of the mold spores in Valley of The Wind Nausicaa.

For once, I’d like to see an octopus in an aquarium that isn’t just balled up in a corner somewhere. I’d like to see one swimming around just doing shit.

Yum.

Holy shit, look at the size of this thing. This is the one I’d like to eat. I am getting hungry. Wouldn’t it be cruel/funny if they served a lot of seafood inside the aquarium cafe?

Again, this is what nightmares look like.

I wonder if they’ll serve me a whole Tasmanian king crab on a dinner plate in Tasmania?… A quick google search confirmed that they do get eaten as dinner. Must put that on my bucket list.

Someday crab…someday.

Murky water fish tank gets no love.

Always fascinated by these clear fish. How is it that their muscular tissue and blood are clear?

It was kind of funny. There were these two kids recording a video with these fish swimming by, and they added their own soundtrack of a long, very squeaky scream, “Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee”. Haha.

A beautiful fish, said no one ever.

We are getting pretty hungry by now. Going to wrap up this aquarium tour soon.

Did someone say chicken nuggets? I am starving!

They love swimming upside down.

RL and I are tired. We sat here on a bench and waited for AB and LL to be done. Love aquariums, just wish I had more time and less hunger to enjoy it more this time.

When we left the aquarium, there was a giant line that formed outside.

Man, we dodged that bullet. Good thing we arrived just early enough to not be stuck in that long line.

Next to Shedd Aquarium is the Field Museum, our next destination. There are no restaurants close by here, so the Field Museum cafe will be our lunch spot.
