Continued from Southern California Day 5.

We’ve decided to start the days in San Diego with breakfast down at the hotel, then walk around Little Italy to get cold brew.

After acquiring cold brew, it’s a walk to the waterfront park close by for the kids to get some energy out at the playground.

This playground is such a lifesaver for the kids to workout their energy while we enjoy some coffee.

Doh. RL had taken this selfie, but she accidentally took screen shot instead. Kinda funny, and kinda a shame because it turned out to be a great photo.

Then out of no where, the fog rolls in. Look at the sharp line of light by the builds, cool.

Both days we’ve been just about the only ones here at the park at around 8am. They’ve got several security guards at the park at all times. I guess to keep the vagrants away?

LOL.

Came back to our hotel and I just craved a burger. Well, I still had a whole burger that’s leftover from the first night here in the fridge. Hit the spot!

Now headed to our next mystery location, Sea World. A short drive from our hotel.

The kids tried to guess what we were doing, but they’ve never heard of Sea World before, so they never could guess correctly.

Touch pools are always a big hit.

I bet they wanted to touch so badly. They even had a horse shoe crab touch pool, it feels like….a crab.

First show is at noon, so we took it easy and didn’t arrive inside the park until close to 11.

They have no idea what they are about to see.

Honestly, the show was kinda a disappointment. They went on and on about how they are educating people and how they save so many animals etc. etc. Obviously very worried about more bad press. I do remember the shows being better when I visited Sea World as a child. None of the trainers even got into the water with the whales this time due to a killer whale killing a trainer a few years back.

Foxtail agave, we grew some in Austin then they all died in a freeze.

Kids really wanted to be splashed so we sat in a splash zone…but we didn’t end up getting splashed. I guess that’s good, it’s still a little chilly.

The center of the arena did get splashed a lot though.

Kinda like the orca show, a little disappointing. But I guess they kids enjoyed it.

Weee! And that’s it for Sea World. Honestly, kind of a let down, felt very much like a second rate amusement park. We were inside the park for about three and a half hours, and that was just fine by us.

Came back to the hotel, played some more games in the courtyard.

After games, it was time to maybe take a nap and have some TV time to chill out. Then, out walking around Little Italy for dinner.

There’s a food hall at the plaza that we were at, and we figured some easy Chinese food would be good. While here, CL started getting a nose bleed. The air has been super dry in all the hotels that we’ve stayed at during this trip. Fortunately, we were able to get her nose bleed stopped pretty easily.

Not a bad way to have dinner, there’s even a live blues musician busking.
