Continued from Madrid Day 1.
We were so tired from the long day of traveling that we were able to fall asleep at around 2am back at the hotel and slept and slept and slept until past noon despite our jetlag. I’ll take it.
At the Starbucks getting cold brew, and I had to google on my phone whether what I was holding was a sweetener or something else. It was.
Temperature in the 50s to low 70s. But yet, everyone here was dressed like it was a constant cold 50 with heavy jackets.
Much rested now.
And of course, coffee. I’m still fighting some sinus issues today, took a zyrtec D and drank this strong cold brew. Now my head feels like it’s on clouds when both kicked in at the same time.
RL always thinks its funny how they print construction screen with people on them when a building is under construction.
Can’t remember the last time or if I’ve ever seen people busking with a bassoon.
We are here after a stroll, Prado Museum.
Couldn’t get the online ticketing to work on my phone back at the hotel, so I guess we’ll wait in this line to buy tickets.
Still trying to get online tickets to work, but no luck. Good thing the line wasn’t super super long and it was moving.
Let’s go!
And…there are no photos allowed inside. I hate it when museums do that. So stupid and lame and there were many watchful eyes inside the museum to make sure no one sneaks in a photo. I guess they really want to sell those gift shop prints.
Halfway through the museum, time for a small snack break. Look, photos are allowed here!
Here’s an artwork at the museum we did take a photo of, on our water bottle at the museum cafe.
And museum flooring. Since I didn’t take any photos, I honestly don’t remember what I’ve seen already now that I’m typing this out 2 days later. I do remember there was a painting of a woman squeezing her breast milk way across the room into a man’s mouth, yeah that’s about it. Oh yeah, also saw works by Hieronymus Bosch, that was pretty awesome. Too bad everyone else also thought his works were awesome so it was quite crowded around them.
Back side of the Prado.
The Royal Gardens next to Prado. There’s a line, and it’s a very very slow moving line to get tickets.
Screw waiting in line, gonna go get some lunch and try to buy the tickets online during lunch then come back to the garden.
WTF! Then we saw a photographer taking photos for a photoshoot. Still kinda funny.
Cool building with old building elevated and new building on top. Must have been really really expensive, but why?
RL had found this other spot for our lunch, it’s a cellar restaurant.
Woah, cool. I believe used to be a monastery here and these were the wine cellars.
My lovely wife.
RL loved this photo because the glare on my glasses made my eyes look big, or in my case, normal sized.
Fancy toilet setting.
Not only is it a cool setting, the food was legit awesome.
Underboob.
Croaker in coconut cream sauce. Croaker tastes kinda like tilapia, but more delicious. Yum.
Such a delicious and satisfying meal.
Some sort of traditional Spanish dessert.
It was some sort of milk bread, tasted like a cross between cake and flan.
Back above ground and now with our royal garden online tickets in hand, we’ll head back to the royal garden.
Neat. The whole planting surface was this fabric soft material that was constantly dripping with water. I wonder if the building next to it has mold issues…Either way, super cool green wall.
Back at the garden, flashed online tickets and we were in immediately. Ah.
Bluebonnets!
What’s on this single rock that’s attracting all the flies?
A very mediocre Japanese zen rock garden.
Green house.
Up stairs on the catwalk, where the railing was shoddy with broken welds.
Giant fiddle leaf fig.
Done with the garden, and now it’s around 5pm. Time to head back to our hotel for a quick break to blog a little and maybe a short nap. At 7:30 we’ve got tickets to see a flamenco show.
Sit!
Whatever odd beast you are.
To be continued at Madrid Day 2 Part 2.
