Oahu Day 4

Continued from Oahu Day 3.

Another beautiful morning.

Today will be a lazy slow day. Coffee and blogging on the balcony, sweet.

My happy place.

I noticed that far in the distance, there were a bunch of surfers in the water.

No bird, I’ve got nothing for you.

It’s laundry day as well. I found a full service laundry place a short drive from the hotel. I’ll take a taxi there to drop off.

$44 dollars for 17 pounds of laundry. Not a bad deal since I don’t need to waste my morning waiting around for it. Takes about 3 hours to finish.

While I went to drop off laundry, Ah Ma and RL took the kids shopping.

Morning hula lessons on the resort grounds.

Koi pond is always a hit.

Ah ma points.

What ah ma was pointing at. Cool reflection in the water.

I think this is a C5 galaxy. I saw this from the balcony while the kids were shopping.

Travel blogging is exhausting. I got hungry and ate some dim sum leftovers.

Girls loving their new outfits.

We left the kids with the grandparents for a bit. Time for some kid free time.

Not tsunami time, definitely not.

RL always matches me on color. It’s just something that we do accidentally all the time.

Found a bar, let’s drink.

Seriously, that beach is unreal blue.

It literally looks as blue as the picture. It looks fake, but it really does look that crystal blue in person.

We enjoyed this restaurant/bar so much that we called the grandparents and asked them to bring everyone down here for lunch.

Everyone’s here for lunch now. Adult play time is over.

Ahi poke, can get this everywhere in Hawaii. I’m cool with that.

Pupu sampler.

I can’t get over how blue that water looks.

After lunch, it’s time to pick up laundry. How are there still cash only cabs here on the island? I called this by Uber, so I didn’t pay cash. But surprised at how cash is still a big thing here. Must be because of all the Asian travelers here.

Got laundry, and it’s now more pool time.

Hot tub to warm up after some pool time. The weather is just about perfect. It’s just barely hot, but not too hot where you are sweating nonstop. It’s nice to have an easy day at the resort to have a slow day.

After swimming time, a little rest time, then time for our main event tonight, a luau. The girls went shopping earlier and got all of us matching Hawaiian shirts. It’s shark pattern and apparently there’s 150 unique sharks on our shirts. Cool.

Even ah ma got in the mood and got a dress.

Punk most of the time, and really cute sometimes.

Excited for the luau. The kids have no idea we are going to a luau. We try to keep things a surprise for them during travel to build excitement for fun.

Pretty picturesque.

3 generations all wearing the same shirt. Ah gong wasn’t into the shirt until he saw me and little KL both wearing it, then he was into the idea.

All these pictures were because we had to wait in line for the luau to start.

Seriously though, it looks like a postcard.

Time for the song and dance show. We had 3 drinks tickets per person. Seeing that 5 of us don’t drink, that means 21 tickets for just me and RL…we actually didn’t drink much and thought about giving away some of our drink tickets to others.

Ah ma got him a little gift at the craft stands at the luau.

Kids got to visit the kids buffet first, now it’s the adult’s turn to visit the buffet. Kids, stay put, eat your food, and don’t mess around.

Typical luau fare. I wish I was more hungry so I could eat more.

There will be fireworks later.

Using some of my drink tickets.

Getting tired. Still jetlagged.

Everyone’s favorite part, the fire show.

That was fun…sort of. Kids got a little bored, I got a little bored, but felt like it was essential that we do at least one luau.

Now we wait around the lagoon for the fireworks to start.

There was one Asian lady who was really drunk playing in the water and laying down on the sand. RL said that she’s acting like a typical drunk girl from a Korean tv drama.

Yay, it’s starting.

5 minutes or so later, it stopped? That’s it? We started to leaving.

Then it started again. Cool.

Glad the kids got to see the fireworks. Now, time to go back to our room and put the kids to bed. Tomorrow is a travel day to Kauai.

To be continued at Kauai Day 1.
