Continued from San Antonio Day 1.
Kids woke up nice and early as always. Here’s a picture of one of the rooms.
First order of business is to find some breakfast. We checked out the small convenience counter inside the hotel, but deemed the selection too small and expensive.
That’s ok. Starbucks is just a few blocks down the street.
And there’s the Alamo a block away from our hotel.
We call this one Big Trouble in Little Taiwan.
The kids were such a handful during breakfast, we didn’t even have a chance to take a photo of our food. Basically we got chocolate croissants.
Time to get into our van and head out to our first destination, the zoo.
Nice big urban park surrounds the zoo.
She really wanted to wear the hat.
The had a special exhibit with animatronic dinosaurs scattered around the zoo.
CL did not feel like getting out of her stroller. That’s fine with us, easier to only have one walking child. It’s not even 10am yet and it’s already getting hot. The temps will hit 100 by midday.
CL is still happy just chilling in her stroller getting pushed around. Nice.
We are glad PL is finally old enough to appreciate the zoo more.
Ah…the giraffe feeding station…I guess we’ll do this.
LOL. Look at how scared she is! She was really excited to feed them until we got up to the platform then the giant giraffe came by and she got scared.
With some encouragement and me holding her hand we were able to feed the giraffe. For $7, I think, we got 3 lettuce leaves. We fed two leaves together and for the third one, PL told me that I should feed the giraffe myself because she didn’t want to do it anymore. Hah.
One of us had a lot of fun feeding giraffes.
Did not know about feeding giraffes yet…Next year child.
It’s really hot now. We’ve only made it through half of the zoo and we are all overheating.
Almost 11am, time for a snack and some Icee to cool down.
CL is an Icee fan. PL surprisingly is not.
At this point, we decided that it was too hot and the kids were starting to get antsy so it’s probably best to leave and have lunch. We had only explored half of the zoo, but that was plenty enough for the kids, and for us.
Next time we come to the zoo, we are coming during the cooler months!
Back at our hotel, parked the car and now we head to lunch on the River Walk.
Lunch spot. Hotel in background, hard to beat the proximity.
The shrimp cocktail is for the kids. They eat better than the adults.
Of course, PL quickly eats her lunch and starts being unable to sit still. Food for adults has not arrived yet, so I took her out to walk around the River Walk in the noon heat.
Meanwhile, this one enjoys the AC and keeps on chowing down.
RL finishes eating, and now I get a moment to myself to eat some lunch. Ahhh, food. RL went ahead and took PL back to the hotel room to run around in the AC since she was so crazy.
CL napped…PL did not. Of course. Sigh. So instead of everyone napping, RL and I stayed up with PL.
